Fata Morgana. Pretty sure the entire background...

Fata Morgana.

Pretty sure the entire background to Elephant Rock is a fata morgana, or superior mirage. The nearest land behind the rock is 20 miles away and many of the patches of light are duplicated and inverted. On a normal day you don’t see anything, or just a faint hint of land…nothing nearly this dramatic.
